Independent Concept Study · Self-initiated · Uncommissioned · Unbuilt
Machines for Impossible Journeys
A transport-design system for terrains that reject ordinary vehicles
Status
Independent Concept Study · Self-initiated · Uncommissioned · Unbuilt
Proposed role
Creative direction, worldbuilding and AI-assisted visual development by Michelle Tasic
Best fit
Visual Development Director · Game / Animation Design Systems · Creative Innovation
06 / Prototype — a tentacled field machine placed in terrain.AI-assisted visual-development image, art-directed by Michelle Tasic · Independent concept study · Not a commissioned or realised project
Premise
Across flooded plains, living deserts and unstable mechanical ruins, different communities build machines whose anatomy is dictated by the terrain they must cross.
“Every impossible journey begins with a terrain that refuses ordinary transport.”
Challenge
What the study had to solve
Create a coherent taxonomy of speculative transport with believable function, scale, operators, materials, maintenance and movement—then prove the system through drawing, iteration and environmental use.
Audience
Who the world must work for
AAA game, animation and film-development teams; innovation groups exploring mobility and industrial storytelling; recruiters looking for systems thinking and visible design process.

Production-aware next step
How the concept could become a working brief.
Further development would choose three terrain briefs, assign one locomotion principle to each family, add human scale and cabin access, develop orthographic and cutaway sheets, identify moving joints, test silhouettes at game-camera distance, define wear and repair, create a short motion study and separate hero vehicles from the background population.
